Desde las elecciones generales de 2015, la Oficina de Instituciones Democráticas y Derechos Humanos de la OSCE (OIDDH) está en contacto con nuestro colectivo por la problemática de la participación electoral de los españoles residentes en el exterior. Dicha institución expresó en su momento su preocupación por el impacto de la modificación de la LOREG en el voto exterior.

El pasado mes de marzo nuestro colectivo se reunió de nuevo con representantes de la OSCE para informarles de la situación ante los nuevos procesos electorales: los nulos avances en el Congreso durante la anterior legislatura para modificar el artículo 75 de la LOREG, que dicta el proceso del voto exterior, y las numerosas irregularidades a las que se enfrentan los emigrantes españoles en cada comicio, plasmados en nuestros informes. De nuevo, este organismo constató su disconformidad con el proceso del voto exterior, especialmente con los problemas generados por el pre-registro en persona, los cortos plazos, los problemas de los servicios locales de correos y la insuficiente información al elector en el extranjero, así como la inacción política a pesar de ser éstos problemas conocidos:

Tras los comicios electorales del 28 de abril y el 26 de mayo, habiendo persistido todos estos problemas, hemos elaborado un informe público detallado que hacemos llegar a este organismo. En él ponemos de manifiesto las múltiples irregularidades y arbitrariedades que sufren los electores en el exterior, muchas veces debidas a interpretaciones restrictivas de la legislación vigente por parte del Ministerio del Exterior y las oficinas consulares.
